Valley-floor town
The town stretches along its valley in a long, narrow shape, with most streets running parallel to the main road rather than forming a square grid.

Yebao Map Poster & Print
Yebao is a town in the Tianshui area of eastern Gansu, on the southern part of the Loess Plateau. This is a landscape of deep fine soil cut by gullies and small river valleys. For centuries, farmers have shaped the slopes into terraces, and roads and villages generally follow the valley floors or run along the ridges above them.
From above, the town appears as a linear settlement that fits its valley rather than spreading evenly. The main street follows the valley's direction, and side lanes climb short distances before the slopes begin. Nearby villages sit on flatter ground along the same corridors, joined by roads that twist to keep to the contours of the land.
A Yebao map poster reads almost like a topographic drawing. The winding roads and the long, narrow town show where the land is level enough to build, and the empty spaces between them mark the hills. It is an unusual and quietly striking composition for anyone who knows the loess country of eastern Gansu.

Contour-following roads
Roads outside the town twist and loop through the hills, tracing the folds of the loess terrain and making the relief visible without any shading.
Scattered hill villages
Small villages sit on ridges and valley shelves around the town, connected by thin tracks that give the edges of the map a light, branching texture.
