Chortoq lies in Namangan region, on the northern edge of the Fergana Valley in eastern Uzbekistan. To the south the valley floor opens out into irrigated farmland. To the north the ground begins to rise toward the mountains that ring the basin. From above, the town sits right on this transition, with a network of streets and canal-lined roads spreading between orchards and fields.
The town is best known in Uzbekistan for its mineral springs and the sanatorium built around them, which draws visitors from across the country. Irrigation shapes the landscape here, as it does across the Fergana Valley. Channels run beside roads and field edges, and mahalla neighbourhoods fill the spaces in between.
A Chortoq map poster records this meeting of valley and foothill. The orderly lines of irrigated farmland contrast with the less regular grain of the town's neighbourhoods and the open ground to the north. It is a quiet, grounded composition for anyone connected to this corner of Central Asia.
The town sits where the flat Fergana Valley floor starts to climb toward the mountains. The map shows the settlement pattern shifting as the terrain changes.
Canals and ditches follow roads and field boundaries, adding fine parallel lines that are typical of the valley's farmed landscape.
Residential quarters form dense, irregular clusters of lanes that stand out against the more geometric pattern of the surrounding fields.
