From above, Grevenbroich is a town shaped by water and energy. The river Erft threads through its centre, lined in places by narrow strips of green, while residential districts spread outward along the roads toward Neuss, Jüchen and Rommerskirchen. Around them the Lower Rhine plain opens into large rectangular fields, and the outer edges of the map show an industrial landscape that few other German towns share.
Grevenbroich has long called itself the federal capital of energy. Lignite from the Rhenish mining district fed the power stations at Neurath and Frimmersdorf, and the vast Garzweiler open-cast pit lies just to the west. On a monochrome map these works read as broad, pale voids with terraced edges, a striking contrast with the finer weave of streets in the old centre.
A Grevenbroich map poster keeps all of this in a single frame: the river line, the town blocks, the rail tracks heading toward Cologne and Mönchengladbach, and the open land between villages. Printed in black and white, the composition becomes less about industry and more about pattern, the contrast between dense settlement and wide, engineered ground.
The Erft runs through the town on its way north to meet the Rhine at Neuss, a thin winding line that anchors the centre and gives the surrounding street pattern its gentle curve.
West of town, the Garzweiler open-cast mine appears as an enormous blank shape with stepped margins, one of the most unusual edges that any town map in Germany can have.
The Neurath and Frimmersdorf plants sit on the outskirts as large rectilinear compounds, their rail sidings and industrial grounds drawn as clean geometric blocks set against open fields.

For people who grew up here or worked in the region's energy industry, this map holds a very particular geography: a riverside town living beside a reshaped landscape. It suits a hallway or an office, and makes a considered gift for someone who has moved away from the Rhineland.
You can set your own title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The HD download is $9 and covers six print sizes, or you can order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
