Ko e mape
Badr is one of Egypt's new cities, built from the 1980s onward in the desert east of Cairo along the road toward Suez. From above, its plan is unmistakably designed. Residential districts sit in clearly bounded neighbourhoods, wide roads separate them, and large industrial zones form their own grids of big rectangular plots.
Unlike the organic lanes of old Cairo, everything here follows deliberate geometry. Wide avenues, service roads and repeating housing blocks were laid out on empty land. Beyond the city limits, the map goes almost blank, apart from a few highways and utility lines. A Badr map poster turns that planned order into a clean graphic print.
The city was created to take pressure off the capital by drawing housing and industry into the desert. On the map, that intention can be seen in the scale of the roads, the separation of zones and the sharp line where the planned city stops and open sand begins.
Residential districts are laid out as distinct, clearly bounded units. On the poster they appear as neat blocks of repeating streets separated by wide roads.
Large factory plots form their own orderly zone. Their big rectangles give a bold contrast to the finer housing pattern nearby.
The city ends abruptly in empty land. In black and white, that sharp boundary makes the plan stand out as a single graphic shape.
