Te mapa
Abaza is a town in the Republic of Khakassia, in southern Siberia, located on the Abakan River where it emerges from the foothills of the Western Sayan mountains. The town grew around iron ore mining in the twentieth century, and its layout still reflects that industrial origin.
On a map, Abaza appears as a compact settlement on the river's bank, with a regular pattern of residential blocks and industrial areas set against the mountain slopes. The Abakan River is the dominant feature, broad and braided in places, and roads follow the valley up into the forested hills and down toward the Khakassian steppe.
An Abaza map poster shows a town at the meeting point of mountains and river. The tidy blocks of the settlement, the sweeping curves of the Abakan and the valley roads create a composition with clear structure and a strong sense of place. In monochrome, the river becomes the image's natural spine.
The river flows past the town in wide, sometimes braided channels, leaving the mountains and heading north toward the Khakassian lowlands.
The town's residential areas follow a regular layout typical of Soviet-era industrial settlements, with blocks arranged along straight streets.
Forested foothills of the Western Sayan rise around the town, and roads follow the valley deeper into the mountains.
