Te mapa
Addis Ababa sits on a high plateau at more than 2,300 metres, below the Entoto hills that close off the city to the north. Streets spread downhill from that ridge, and many follow small river valleys that run south across the city, so the street pattern is looser and more organic than in most capitals. On a map, the high ground to the north is where the density ends.
The city was founded in 1886 under Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taytu, and its name means new flower. Central avenues converge on open spaces such as Meskel Square, a broad plaza that shows clearly as a clearing in the fabric. From the centre, Bole Road runs southeast toward the international airport, one of the most recognisable lines on the plan.
A ring road now circles much of the urban area, giving an Addis Ababa map poster a clear outer loop that frames the older neighbourhoods inside it. As the seat of the African Union, the city carries diplomatic weight far beyond Ethiopia, and its map combines that official scale with the winding streets of a hillside city.
The ridge to the north rises well above the city, its forested slopes stopping the street network and forming a dark, soft edge along the top of the map.
A wide open plaza where several main avenues meet, easy to spot as a pale clearing among the dense central districts of the capital.
A long loop of highway circles much of the city, drawing a strong outer line around the neighbourhoods and linking the main routes out toward other regions.

Koteā ko Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa means home for a large diaspora, and a posting or a year of study for many others. A map poster of the highland capital, with its hills and avenues, is a calm way to keep that connection visible every day.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, and the map comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Try the free 900 px preview, then choose the $9 HD files or a matte printed poster.
