Aguelmous is a town in Khenifra province, in the Middle Atlas region of central Morocco. It sits on high ground where forested ridges give way to open grazing land. On a map, the town is compact. A small cluster of streets forms the centre, and a few roads run out across the rolling country toward the surrounding villages and valleys.
This is traditionally Amazigh highland country, where herding and farming have long shaped daily life.
