Te mapa
Al Aḩmadī was built in the 1940s by the Kuwait Oil Company to house workers of the newly developed oil fields. It was named after Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, ruler of Kuwait at the time, and it was planned as a whole rather than grown over centuries.
The original town follows garden-city ideas brought by British planners, with curving residential streets, houses set in green gardens and a clear separation between homes, industry and services. On the map these soft curves contrast sharply with the straight highways and industrial grids around them.
Toward the coast lie refineries and the port of Mina al-Ahmadi, and to the west stretches the Burgan field, one of the largest oil fields in the world. An Al Aḩmadī map poster captures an unusual urban story, a company town turned into a regional centre.
The older residential core is laid out with curving streets and green plots, a planned pattern rare among cities in the Gulf region.
Refineries, pipelines and industrial zones between the town and the coast appear as large, geometric areas on the edges of the map.
The port and its long jetties reach out into the Gulf, forming straight, precise lines against the smooth coastline.
