Te mapa
Al Aşābi‘ah lies in the Jabal al Gharbi district of north-western Libya, on the plateau of the Nafusa Mountains south-west of Gharyan. The land here is high, dry and open, and from above the town appears as a cluster of streets set within a wide landscape of farm plots, olive trees and bare ground, connected to neighbouring towns by long, straight roads.
The Nafusa plateau has been settled for a very long time, and its towns tend to be compact, adapted to hot summers and limited water. Around Al Aşābi‘ah, dry valleys, fields and tracks form an irregular pattern across the plateau. On a monochrome print, the contrast between the dense town and the lightly marked land around it gives the map a calm, uncrowded feel.
An Al Aşābi‘ah map poster is for people with a real connection to the town, whether they live there, grew up there or have family in the Jabal al Gharbi. It is a place seldom represented in maps or images, which makes a careful, uncluttered rendering all the more personal. The title can show the town's name written exactly as you prefer.
The town sits on the high ground of the Nafusa Mountains, and the open plateau around it leaves plenty of breathing space around the streets on the sheet.
Streets and houses gather in a dense cluster, standing out clearly against the lightly marked land that surrounds the town on every side.
Straight roads run across the plateau towards Gharyan and other towns of the region, forming strong lines that give the composition its structure.
