Te mapa
Al Ḩammām is a town in Matruh Governorate in northwestern Egypt, inland from the Mediterranean coast and west of Alexandria. It lies at the point where the Nile's irrigated land ends and the Western Desert begins. On the map that border is clear: green, cultivated plots on one side and wide, empty ground on the other.
The area has been changed by land reclamation. Canals bring Nile water westward, and around them new farmland has been laid out in regular rectangular plots. The town itself is a mix of older irregular streets and newer, straighter blocks. Main roads connect it to the coast and to Alexandria.
An Al Ḩammām map poster shows a place shaped by water and planning. There are straight canals, geometric fields and a compact town, all set against open desert. Printed in black and white, the contrast between the dense, ruled farmland and the empty sand is strong and almost abstract.
Canals carrying Nile water run through the area in long, straight lines. They are the reason farmland can exist here at all and define the map's structure.
Newly cultivated land is divided into regular rectangular plots. It forms a tidy geometric pattern around the town.
Beyond the fields, the map opens into desert with only a few roads crossing it. This emptiness frames the cultivated land sharply.
