Te mapa
Al Khuşūş lies in Qalyubia Governorate, on the northern edge of Greater Cairo. The capital's continuous urban area stops here and the farmland of the Nile Delta begins. From above, the city is compact and closely built. Narrow streets pack between multi-storey buildings, and in many places the street pattern clearly follows the lines of older field boundaries.
That agricultural origin still shapes the map. Long, straight streets often follow the direction of former irrigation channels and plot edges. The blocks in between are irregular and deep. Wider roads link the area to the rest of the metropolis to the south, and at the outer edges the streets thin out into a patchwork of canals and cultivated land.
An Al Khuşūş map poster captures a common but rarely drawn kind of place: the edge of a very large city, where new building keeps pushing into the delta. The dense core prints as a nearly solid texture. The surrounding fields leave lighter, geometric spaces, and the two together show where the city meets the countryside.
Closely packed streets and deep, irregular blocks create one of the darkest textures on the page, typical of Cairo's rapidly grown northern districts.
Many long, straight roads follow the direction of old plot boundaries and irrigation channels, which gives the layout its underlying grain.
Toward the outer frame, buildings give way to canals and cultivated land, drawn as a looser mesh of straight lines.

For anyone with roots in Qalyubia or Cairo's northern districts, this map shows familiar streets that rarely appear in print. The contrast between dense blocks and open fields makes a strong graphic image.
