Te mapa
Qalyub sits just north of Greater Cairo, at the point where the desert-edged Nile valley opens into the broad fan of the Delta. From above, the town appears as a compact knot of streets surrounded by a patchwork of narrow fields. Straight irrigation channels run through the fields, and a few roads head towards the capital.
The town is best known as a railway junction. The main line from Cairo towards Alexandria and the Delta passes through here, and on a map the tracks cut a clean diagonal through the tight grain of houses. Around the station the street pattern breaks into irregular blocks, typical of Delta towns that grew outward from old village cores.
A Qalyub map poster shows the contrast between a crowded urban core and the ruled geometry of cultivated land. In black and white, the canals read as fine parallel strokes and the built-up area as a dark, textured mass. The result is a clear record of how settlement and farming share every metre of the Delta's fertile ground.
Rail lines converge on the town from Cairo and branch towards the Delta. Their long, straight tracks form the strongest lines on the map and frame the older street pattern.
Thin, ruler-straight canals divide the surrounding land into long strips. On the poster they make a fine linear texture that sets the town apart from the fields.
Small rectangular plots press right up to the edge of the built area, so the boundary between town and farmland appears as a ragged but distinct outline.

Koteā ko Qalyub
Qalyub is a place people often know through family, work or the daily commute into Cairo. A poster of its streets and canals keeps that connection in view and shows a part of Egypt that most travel images leave out.
You can set your own title and subtitle, for example a family name or a year, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room it will hang in.
