Te mapa
Albert Lea is the county seat of Freeborn County in southern Minnesota, close to the Iowa border. The map is shaped by water. Fountain Lake sits right against the north side of downtown, and the larger Albert Lea Lake stretches to the southeast. The streets bend around the shorelines, and the channels between the lakes give the city an irregular, watery outline.
The city lies at the junction of Interstate 35, which runs north–south between the Twin Cities and Iowa, and Interstate 90, which crosses the state from east to west. The two highways form a large cross near the city. The prairie farmland of southern Minnesota stretches away in every direction, divided into the regular square-mile sections of the Midwest.
An Albert Lea map poster combines the grid of a Midwestern county seat with the free-form outline of its lakes. Downtown sits on a narrow strip between the water, parks line the shores, and the highways lie to one side. In black and white, the lakes become large calm shapes against the grid, and they give the city a distinct look.
The lake lies right beside downtown. Its shoreline, parks and bridges define the northern edge of the city centre.
This larger lake spreads to the southeast in a long, irregular shape and fills a large part of the map with open water.
Two interstates cross near the city, drawing straight lines through the farmland and connecting Albert Lea to the Twin Cities, Iowa and beyond.
