Albstadt Map Poster & Print
Albstadt lies high on the Swabian Jura in Baden-Württemberg. It was created in 1975 by merging several towns, most importantly Ebingen and Tailfingen. The terrain explains its shape. Settlement follows narrow valleys cut into the limestone plateau, especially along the Schmiecha. The map shows elongated districts connected by roads that run along the valley floors.
The town has a long tradition in textiles, especially knitwear and hosiery, which made its valleys an industrial centre. Much of that heritage is still visible in the older factory buildings. The surrounding plateau and slopes are wooded or open pasture, cut through by hiking trails and roads that climb onto the Alb.
An Albstadt map poster has an unusual, stretched composition. The districts form dense strips in the valleys, separated by open, sparsely marked hillsides. There is no single round centre. Instead, the town reads as a chain of settlements, which is a true image of how life here fits the land.
