Te mapa
Amarillo lies on the Llano Estacado, the high, flat plateau of the Texas Panhandle. With almost no terrain to work around, the city follows a nearly perfect grid of streets. From above, it looks like a surveyor's plan placed on open prairie, with long straight roads running out to the horizon.
Interstate 40 crosses the city from east to west, roughly following old Route 66. That historic route survives in the Sixth Street district. Interstate 27 heads south toward Lubbock, and railway lines cut diagonally through the grid, a reminder that the city grew up as a cattle and rail town.
An Amarillo map poster shows the shape of the High Plains: straight lines, few curves and small lakes scattered through the parks. Palo Duro Canyon, one of the largest canyons in the United States, lies to the southeast. Just west of town is the Cadillac Ranch, a row of half-buried cars that has become one of the best-known roadside artworks in the country.
On level ground, Amarillo's streets form an almost uninterrupted grid of square blocks, giving the map a clean, structured pattern.
The Sixth Street district preserves part of historic Route 66. It runs through the city alongside the newer Interstate 40.
Railway lines cut across the street grid at an angle. They are among the few diagonal lines on the map and trace the city's origins as a rail town.

Koteā ko Amarillo
Amarillo is a city shaped by open land and long roads, and its map captures that clearly. It suits people from the Panhandle, travellers who once drove Route 66 through town, or anyone who likes the calm order of a plains city laid out in straight lines.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family ranch name or a year. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy the $9 digital files for sizes up to 24×36 inches, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
