Te mapa
Ampang lies on the eastern side of Kuala Lumpur, where the city's dense grid meets the foothills of the Titiwangsa Range. From above, the western part is fully urban: condominium towers, housing estates and major roads leading into the city centre. The eastern part gives way to steep, forested slopes. The Middle Ring Road and the Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway cut long lines across the map.
Ampang can claim a part in the founding of Kuala Lumpur itself. In 1857, miners sent up the Klang River to look for tin began work around Ampang. The settlement that grew up where their supplies were landed, at the meeting of the Klang and Gombak rivers, became the capital. Today the area is home to many embassies, and the LRT's Ampang Line ends here.
An Ampang map poster shows the meeting of city and hills with unusual clarity: tightly packed residential streets on one side, winding hill roads and open forest on the other. It suits residents of the district who would rather hang their own corner of the Klang Valley than the more familiar outline of central Kuala Lumpur.
The eastern edge of the built-up area follows the base of the hills. There the streets stop abruptly and forest takes over, giving the poster a strong organic border.
The Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway runs above the district towards the city centre. It is one of the longest and straightest lines on the map.
Housing estates appear as clusters of looping crescents and cul-de-sacs. Their texture is very different from the straighter roads of older Ampang town.

Koteā ko Ampang
Ampang is where many Kuala Lumpur families have lived for generations, and where many expatriates settle near the embassies. A custom title, a subtitle naming a street or a year, and the coordinates line turn the map into something that belongs to you.
The contrast of streets and hills looks crisp in Classic black and white and dramatic in Noir, with Paper, Blueprint and Sand as quieter options. Buy the $9 HD files, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
