Te mapa
An Nūbārīyah lies in Beheira Governorate, on the western edge of the Nile Delta, where fertile land gives way to desert. The area was developed through large land reclamation projects in the second half of the twentieth century, turning desert into irrigated farmland, and it shares its name with the Nubariya Canal that carries water into the district.
From above, the result is one of the most geometric landscapes in Egypt. Canals, drains and farm roads divide the land into large rectangular fields, and the town itself follows a planned layout rather than the organic street pattern of older Delta villages. The Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road passes through the area as a long straight line.
The An Nūbārīyah map poster is a study in straight lines and water management, a very different image of Egypt from the Nile's winding banks or Cairo's dense streets. It suits people who live and farm in the region, engineers and agronomists who worked on reclamation, and anyone drawn to the clarity of planned landscapes.
The canal crosses the landscape as a long, confident line, the water source that made reclamation possible and the backbone of the whole map.
Irrigation channels and farm roads divide the land into regular rectangles, creating a striking pattern that repeats to the edges of the poster.
The main highway between Cairo and Alexandria passes through the area, adding another strong straight line to an already geometric composition.
