Te mapa
As Sibā‘īyah lies in Aswan Governorate, on the Nile between Esna and Edfu. Like many towns in Upper Egypt, its shape is set by water and sand. From above you see the wide river on one side, a strip of irrigated green along the bank, and the town itself tucked into that fertile band before the land gives way to desert.
Life here has always followed the river. Canals and ditches carry water to the fields, roads and a railway run parallel to the Nile, and settlements line up along it rather than spreading outward. The result on a map is a long, linear pattern with a very clear edge where cultivation ends.
An As Sibā‘īyah map poster captures that contrast cleanly. The river gives a strong, broad line, the town adds a dense cluster of streets, and the fields show as a fine grid of plots. The empty desert beyond leaves space on the sheet, which suits the Sand style especially well.
The river runs the length of the map as a wide, gently curving band, the single most important feature of the place.
A narrow belt of fields and canals follows the riverbank, marked by small rectangular plots and straight water channels.
Where irrigation stops, the street and field pattern ends sharply, leaving open space that frames the town.
