Te mapa
Asadābād lies in Hamadan province in western Iran, west of the city of Hamadan on the main road toward Kermanshah. East of the town the road climbs over the Asadabad pass, a route that has carried travellers across the Zagros for centuries. On the map, the town is a fairly compact grid set in a valley, with farmland and mountain slopes around it.
The town is widely associated with Sayyid Jamal al-Din Asadabadi, often known as al-Afghani, the influential nineteenth-century reformer and writer, and many regard it as his birthplace. From above, though, Asadābād is defined by its setting: long highway lines, irrigated fields, and the rising ground of the mountains that gives the valley its shape.
An Asadābād map poster suits a wider frame, so the pass road, the valley floor and the edges of the highland all have room. The dense streets of the centre sit at the heart of the composition, while the roads leading out toward Hamadan and Kermanshah draw long lines toward the borders of the sheet.
East of town, the highway climbs over the Asadabad pass in a series of curves, one of the most expressive lines on the whole map.
The centre forms a compact grid on the valley floor, a dense area of blocks that contrasts with the open land and slopes around it.
Irrigated fields and orchards spread from the edges of the town, giving the outer poster a fine patchwork texture before the terrain rises.
