Te mapa
Aveiro sits on the edge of the Ria de Aveiro, a shallow lagoon separated from the Atlantic by a long, narrow sand spit. On a map the water is everywhere. Channels, basins and salt pans spread west of the city, and the Canal Central runs straight through the centre. This mix of land and water makes Aveiro instantly recognisable from above.
The canals, crossed by low bridges and used by the brightly painted moliceiro boats, have earned the city comparisons with Venice. Aveiro is also known for its Art Nouveau facades, for ovos moles, a sweet made from egg yolk and sugar, and for the University of Aveiro, whose modern campus sits at the edge of the lagoon south of the centre.
An Aveiro map poster works both as a close study of the canals and as a wider view that takes in the salt pans and the sandbar toward Costa Nova. Digital files cost $9 and include six sizes, from 30×40 cm to 24×36″, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF without a watermark.
The main canal cuts through the historic centre, with streets on both sides. On paper it is the city's clearest landmark, a straight band of water through dense blocks.
West of the centre, the traditional salt pans form a grid of small rectangular pools. They are one of the most unusual and graphic textures on any Portuguese map.
The shallow lagoon spreads out in channels and islands to the west and north. A long sand spit separates it from the ocean and edges the composition.

Koteā ko Aveiro
Many people fall for Aveiro on a first visit, and many students call it home for a few important years. A map of its canals and lagoon records that time in a clear, graphic form.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a graduation year or the date of a trip, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits this water-heavy composition especially well.
