Te mapa
Ban Khoan lies in Bokeo province in the far northwest of Laos, on the east bank of the Mekong. This stretch of river sits near the Golden Triangle, the area where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar converge on the water. On a map, the Mekong is the defining element, a wide, gently curving band that separates three countries.
The settlement follows the river, with roads running parallel to the bank and shorter lanes reaching inland toward fields and low hills. The drawing is sparse compared with large cities, which is part of its appeal: long, thin lines, open spaces, and the sweeping presence of one of Asia's great rivers.
A Ban Khoan map poster is as much a portrait of the Mekong as of the settlement itself. The composition is shaped by water and borders, with the town arranged along the shore like a line of text along a margin. It is a quiet, spacious design that suits anyone drawn to rivers, borderlands or this corner of Southeast Asia.
The river dominates the map, flowing past in a broad curve and forming the international boundary, a single strong shape that anchors the entire composition.
A main road runs close to the bank and follows the river's line, giving the settlement its elongated form and a clear direction on the page.
The nearby convergence of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar gives the map an unusual geographic context, with neighbouring shores visible across the water.
