Te mapa
Ban Xénô is in Savannakhet Province in southern Laos, east of the provincial capital on the flat lowlands that stretch back from the Mekong. From above, the town takes shape around a crossroads of major routes. Streets and buildings gather close to the junction, and the land around them opens out into rice fields.
The meeting of north–south and east–west roads gives the town its role. Traffic between the Mekong towns and the routes towards Vietnam passes through, and the settlement grew to serve it. As in much of lowland Laos, the surroundings are agricultural and village life spreads out along the roads.
A Ban Xénô map poster makes the crossroads the centrepiece. Two strong lines meet in the middle, the town builds up around them, and quiet field patterns fill the rest of the frame. It is a simple, well-balanced composition for a place defined by where roads meet.
Two national routes cross in the town and form its central axis. On the poster this junction is the clear focal point of the whole design.
Houses and shops line the main roads, with smaller lanes branching off behind them. The town grows outward from the junction in a loose cross shape.
The flat land around the town is made up of farmland and small watercourses. Much of it stays open on the map, framing the settlement with space.
