Bāntva is a town in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, on the flat farmland west of Junagadh. On a map, it appears as a compact settlement with a dense older centre of narrow lanes, surrounded by newer streets and open fields. Roads lead out to nearby towns and villages in several directions.
Before 1947, Bāntva was the seat of a small princely state. The town is also closely associated with the Bantva Memon community, a trading community whose members settled widely after Partition, especially in Karachi, while keeping a strong sense of their roots in the town.
