Te mapa
Jamnagar lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat. It was the capital of the former princely state of Nawanagar, and its old town grew around a lake known as Lakhota or Ranmal Lake. At the centre of the lake stands the Lakhota Palace, a small fortified building reached by a causeway, which gives the heart of the city an unusual focal point.
Beyond the old town, Jamnagar extends toward the tidal creeks and mudflats of the gulf. The coast nearby is home to the Marine National Park, protecting coral reefs and mangroves. A little to the west lies one of the largest oil refinery complexes in the world, which has transformed the region's economy. Jamnagar is also known for its bandhani tie-dye textiles.
A Jamnagar map poster places the lake at its centre, with dense older streets gathered around its shoreline and newer districts spreading outward. The irregular coastline to the north adds a textured edge, and the combination of historic core and open water makes the city instantly recognisable from above.
The lake sits in the middle of the city with the Lakhota Palace on its island. On paper it forms a smooth central shape encircled by streets.
Narrow, closely built streets surround the lake, recording the layout of the former capital of Nawanagar and contrasting with the wider roads beyond.
Tidal creeks and mudflats break up the northern edge of the map, giving it a soft and fragmented coastline.
