Bảo Lộc sits on the B'Lao plateau in Lâm Đồng Province, roughly 800 metres above sea level, about halfway along the road between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. National Route 20 runs through the town as its main spine. From above, the streets follow the rolling terrain rather than a strict grid, bending around hills and small valleys.
The cool climate and red basalt soils make the area one of Vietnam's main tea-growing regions, and the town has long been a centre of sericulture and silk production. Tea, coffee and mulberry plantations surround the urban core, and waterfalls such as Dambri lie in the forested country beyond the town.

Tea-covered hills
Plantations surround the town on every side, and the roads through them follow contour lines across the slopes. This creates a loose, flowing pattern at the edges of the print.
