Te mapa
Barra da Tijuca lies in the west of Rio de Janeiro, between the Atlantic and a range of forested hills. From above, it looks like no other part of the city. A straight beach runs for many kilometres along the coast, lagoons lie behind it, and Avenida das Américas crosses the district in a long, direct line.
The area was developed mostly from the 1970s, following a master plan by the architect and urban planner Lúcio Costa. It grew into a district of wide roads, condominiums and shopping centres. In 2016, it hosted the Olympic Park, built on land beside the Jacarepaguá lagoon.
A Barra da Tijuca map poster is defined by its water. The ocean forms one clean edge, the lagoons create irregular shapes inland, and the thin strip of land between them carries the main avenues. The result is spacious and graphic, very different from Rio's older neighbourhoods.
The coastline runs almost straight for a long distance. On the poster it is a single clean edge, one of the longest urban beaches in Rio.
The Tijuca, Marapendi and Jacarepaguá lagoons lie behind the coast. Their irregular shapes break up the map and separate the district into distinct areas.
This wide avenue runs through the district from east to west, forming the backbone of the planned layout and the main route across Barra.

Koteā ko Barra da Tijuca
For people who live in Barra or spent a summer on its beach, the map captures a place defined by the ocean and lagoons. It is a bright, open composition that works well in a living space.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the name of a condominium or the date you moved in. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
