Te mapa
Baruta is one of the municipalities of metropolitan Caracas and occupies the hilly country southeast of the city centre. There is almost no flat grid here. The streets twist along ridges and wind down into small valleys. Residential areas settle wherever the slope allows, separated by patches of green and steep ground.
The municipality combines leafy neighbourhoods of houses and apartment blocks with denser barrios on the steeper slopes, all connected by a few main roads that thread through the valleys. The Simón Bolívar University occupies a large campus in the Sartenejas valley, within Baruta. It is one of Venezuela's best-known public universities for science and engineering.
A Baruta map poster is a study in contour-driven streets. Roads curve and double back as they climb, with loops, cul-de-sacs and long switchbacks, while wooded ground fills the spaces between neighbourhoods. In black and white, the map looks almost organic, closer to a drawing of veins or leaves than a city plan.
Streets follow the terrain rather than a grid. They wind along ridges and down into hollows, giving the map a fluid pattern.
The Simón Bolívar University sits in its own valley. Its campus forms an open, clearly defined area set apart from the residential streets around it.
Steep slopes and wooded ravines separate the neighbourhoods. These gaps break the map into distinct pockets of streets.

Koteā ko Baruta
For Caracas residents, former students of the Simón Bolívar University or anyone who grew up in these hills, the winding streets of Baruta are instantly familiar. The poster turns a complicated terrain into a calm, graphic image.
You can add a name, a date or a place in the title and subtitle, and set the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files for six print sizes are $9, with printed posters also available.
