Te mapa
Blythe sits at the far eastern edge of California, near the west bank of the Colorado River, which forms the state line with Arizona. The town is laid out on a simple grid, and Interstate 10 passes through on its way to the river crossing. Around it, the Palo Verde Valley spreads out as a flat expanse of irrigated farmland, sharply bordered by bare desert and mountains.
From above, the contrast is striking. Canals and farm roads divide the valley into regular fields, a geometry made possible by river water and early twentieth-century irrigation. Past the last canal, the land turns to open desert, with dry washes and scattered tracks. The river curves along the eastern edge, with side channels, backwaters and the long lines of levees beside it.
Blythe is also known for the Blythe Intaglios, huge human and animal figures scraped into the desert surface north of town and best seen from the air. A Blythe map poster takes the same aerial view: the fields, the river, the interstate and the town grid, all set in a vast, empty desert.
The river marks the eastern edge of the map and the border with Arizona. Its curving channel and backwaters contrast with the straight lines of the fields.
Canals and farm roads divide the valley into a patchwork of rectangular fields, giving the poster a clean, gridded texture that stretches well beyond the town.
The interstate crosses the map as a strong, continuous line, running out of the desert, through town and over the Colorado toward Arizona.

Koteā ko Blythe
Blythe is a stopping point for travellers on the long drive between Los Angeles and Phoenix, and home to families who work the valley's farms. Its map captures both the sense of passing through and the steady order of irrigated land.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, then pick a style. Sand and Blueprint both suit the desert setting. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper, framed or unframed.
