Te mapa
Bumba stands on the northern bank of the Congo River in the Mongala province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, close to the top of the river's great northward curve. On a map, the river dominates everything: a vast, braided channel full of long islands and sandbanks, many times wider than the streets of the town beside it. The town itself extends along the bank, its roads running inland from the waterfront.
The river is the main artery of this region, and Bumba has long served as a port where boats, goods and passengers move along the Congo between Kinshasa and Kisangani. Beyond the town, the land gives way to forest and farmland, crossed by a small number of roads that connect it to the interior. Life here remains closely tied to water and river trade.
A Bumba map poster is above all a portrait of the Congo River. The broad channel and its islands create large, expressive shapes, and the town's modest grid provides a human scale on the bank. The contrast between the immense water and the compact settlement gives the print a quiet power, a reminder of how rivers define places in the heart of Africa.
The river spreads across the map in a wide, braided channel with long islands, a dramatic shape that dominates any composition of Bumba.
The settlement runs along the northern bank, its roads leading away from the water and forming a simple, legible pattern beside the river.
Beyond the town, roads and tracks head into surrounding forest and farmland, adding sparse, fine lines to the outer parts of the map.

Koteā ko Bumba
For people from Bumba and the Mongala region, a map of the town and its river is a strong reminder of home, especially for those who have moved to Kinshasa or abroad. The river alone makes the place immediately recognisable.
