Te mapa
Bunbury lies about 175 kilometres south of Perth and is the main city of Western Australia's South West. Its layout is determined by water. The city centre occupies a narrow strip of land between the open Indian Ocean on the west and the calm Leschenault Inlet on the east. To the north, Koombana Bay forms a sheltered curve beside the port.
The Collie and Preston rivers enter the inlet nearby, and the map shows their estuaries as soft, irregular shapes against the sharp ocean shoreline. Koombana Bay is known for bottlenose dolphins that visit the shallows, and the city's lighthouse is painted in a distinctive black-and-white check. The grid of the centre fits neatly into the small space between the waters.
A Bunbury map poster works as a study of edges. On one side is the straight ocean beach, on the other the broken inlet shore, and between them a compact grid. Suburbs spread south and east from there. In Blueprint or Noir, the three waters, ocean, bay and inlet, make the city instantly recognisable.

A sheltered curve of water north of the centre, next to the port, is known for the wild dolphins that come into its shallows.
