Te mapa
Buôn Hồ lies in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, in Đắk Lắk province, north-east of the provincial centre, Buôn Ma Thuột. National Route 14, the main highway of the highlands, runs through the town. From above, the town appears as a long corridor of streets along that road, with side lanes branching into the gently rolling land on either side.
The surrounding basalt plateau is one of the most important coffee-growing areas in Vietnam, and farms reach right up to the edge of town. In the languages of the region's indigenous peoples, buôn means village. The word is a reminder that Ê Đê communities have lived on this land for a long time.
A Buôn Hồ map poster shows how a highland market town takes shape along a single strong route: the dense strip beside the highway, the finer network of residential lanes, and the open field pattern beyond. It is a modest place on the map, and that simplicity is what makes the design work.
The highway runs straight through the town and forms its backbone. Shops and houses are concentrated along it, and the rest of the street network branches off it.
Smaller roads leave the highway at intervals and run out into the countryside. They create a comb-like pattern typical of towns along the highland roads.
Beyond the built-up area, farm tracks and small plots fill the map. This is the working landscape of coffee and other crops on the red-soil plateau.

Koteā ko Buôn Hồ
Many people who grew up in Buôn Hồ, or who have family in the Đắk Lắk highlands, now live in Ho Chi Minh City or overseas. A map of the town is a quiet link to that place and to the plateau around it.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a name, a date or a short dedication, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD download costs $9, and printed posters on matte paper ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
