Te mapa
Burhaniye is in Balıkesir province, on the southern shore of the Edremit Gulf on Turkey's northern Aegean coast. The town centre sits a short distance inland, with the coast and the beach neighbourhood of Ören to the west. On a map, the gap between them is filled with olive groves and smaller settlements, a pattern typical of this olive-growing region.
The centre has the compact, irregular streets of an older Anatolian town. Toward the sea, the pattern changes: summer-house neighbourhoods near the beach follow a more regular grid of short, parallel streets running down to the shore. Across the gulf rise the Kaz Dağları, the Mount Ida of ancient legend, which frame the view from the coast.
Near Ören lie the remains of ancient Adramyttium, which gave its name to the gulf's older name. A Burhaniye map poster brings the town and its coast into one frame: the inland core, the shoreline grid and the smooth curve of the gulf. It is a natural choice for anyone who has spent summers here.

Holiday neighbourhoods near the beach are laid out as short, parallel streets running to the sea, a tidy pattern set apart from the older centre.
Olive groves and small settlements fill the land between town and coast, forming a soft, fine-grained texture around the built-up areas.

Koteā ko Burhaniye
Many families from Istanbul and İzmir spend their summers in Burhaniye and Ören. A map of the street by the sea, or the old family house, keeps those seasons in view all year.
