Te mapa
Cairu is unusual even on the map of Bahia. The town sits on a small island inside a maze of estuaries, mangrove creeks and tidal channels, and the municipality around it is almost all islands, including Tinharé and Boipeba. From above, water and land interlock so closely that the coastline looks like lace.
The town itself is one of the oldest in the region, founded in the colonial period, and it keeps a seventeenth-century Franciscan convent that is among the notable early religious buildings in Brazil. The islands to the east include Morro de São Paulo, reached by boat, which gives the whole area its travel reputation.
A Cairu map poster works mainly as a portrait of water. The small grid of the old town sits at one point, surrounded by channels that branch and rejoin in every direction. Printed large, the delicate shoreline becomes the main subject, and the town reads as a small anchor in the middle of it.
The historic settlement occupies a small island ringed by water. Its compact streets form a tight, dense patch set against the open channels around it.
Creeks and estuaries thread between the islands in intricate curves. In black and white their outlines create the most detailed part of the print.
The larger islands to the east face the Atlantic with long beaches. Including them in the frame turns the poster into a map of the whole archipelago.

Koteā ko Cairu
People choose Cairu to remember a trip through the islands, a stay on Tinharé or Boipeba, or simply because the coastline is so beautiful to look at. Very few places show land and water so thoroughly mixed together.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates with a holiday date or a name. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint and Sand both suit a map drawn this much by the sea.
