Te mapa
Champlin lies on the south bank of the Mississippi River in the northwest Twin Cities, directly across from the city of Anoka. On a map, the river forms the town's northern edge in a broad sweep, and Elm Creek winds in from the southwest to join it. Residential streets fill the land between, mostly in the curving layouts of postwar suburban planning.
The older part of town grew up near the mouth of Elm Creek, where a mill pond still marks the spot. Upstream, the Elm Creek Park Reserve preserves a large area of woods, wetlands and trails that extends into Champlin. A bridge links the town with Anoka on the opposite bank of the Mississippi.
A Champlin map poster frames the suburb by its water: the wide river along the top, the creek threading through, and the open land of the park reserve. Those natural lines give an otherwise suburban map a clear shape and a sense of place.
