Chāndpur Map Poster & Print

Chāndpur stands where the Dakatia River joins the great combined flow of the Padma and Meghna, one of the largest river confluences in South Asia. From above, water dominates. Broad channels fill much of the frame, with sandbars and islands between them, and the town occupies the land along the bank.

The town's life follows the river. Its launch terminal is a major stop on routes to Dhaka and the south, and Chāndpur is known across Bangladesh as the city of hilsa, the river fish central to Bengali cooking. The riverbank has long been exposed to erosion, and embankments and protective works mark its edge on the map.

A Chāndpur map poster shows a town defined by the meeting of rivers. In black and white, the huge water surfaces contrast with the fine street pattern of the town, and the Dakatia gives a smaller, winding line leading inland.

Launch terminal

The riverside ghat links the town to Dhaka and other ports, and it remains one of the busiest points along the waterfront.

03

Dakatia River

A narrower river winds through the town from the east, dividing it into sections and linking it with the countryside inland.
