Te mapa
Tungi, often written Tongi, lies just north of Dhaka across the Turag River and is now part of the Gazipur City Corporation. On a map the river forms its southern edge, curving past the town, while the main highway and railway line from Dhaka cross the water and continue north through its centre.
Tungi grew as an industrial town, with textile mills, factories and worker housing packed between the transport corridors. The street pattern is dense and irregular, broken by the large rectangular footprints of industrial sites. The town is widely known for the Bishwa Ijtema, a large annual Muslim gathering held on open ground by the Turag, which draws participants from many countries.
A Tungi map poster shows an urban landscape shaped by work and movement: the river crossing, the rail and road corridors, the factory blocks and the crowded lanes between them. In a clean black and white rendering, that intensity becomes an orderly pattern, a thoughtful record of a place many people know as the gateway north of the capital.
The river curves along the southern edge of town, and the bridges carrying road and rail across it form the main link with Dhaka.
Large factory and mill sites appear as broad rectangular shapes among the smaller residential blocks, a clear sign of the town's industrial character.
The open riverside ground used for the annual Bishwa Ijtema forms a large clear space by the Turag, standing out against the dense streets nearby.
