Te mapa
Chapada dos Guimarães sits on a high plateau in Mato Grosso, northeast of Cuiabá. The town lies near the rim of a great sandstone escarpment, where the land drops sharply toward the lowlands below. It is the gateway to the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, known for red cliffs, canyons, cerrado vegetation and a series of waterfalls, including the tall Véu de Noiva.
The town itself is modest and fairly regular in layout, with a colonial-era church and square at its heart. Roads leave the centre toward viewpoints, trails and the road down to Cuiabá. The area is also often noted as lying close to the geodesic centre of South America, a claim marked by a local viewpoint.
A Chapada dos Guimarães map poster pairs a small street grid with one of Brazil's most striking landscapes. On the map, the escarpment appears as tightly packed contours and gorges, and the plateau spreads out around the town. It suits anyone who has hiked the park or who keeps a connection to Mato Grosso.
The compact town grid sits on the high tableland, with its old church square at the centre and roads leading toward the park.
The cliffs mark the plateau's edge, where the terrain drops steeply. They form a strong, jagged boundary on the map.
Rivers cut deep gorges into the plateau edge and plunge over waterfalls, adding winding, dramatic lines to the national park area.
