Chengxiang is the seat of Wuxi County in the northeastern corner of Chongqing, deep in mountainous country near the Daba range. The town sits where the valley opens just enough for building, and the map shows it squeezed between steep slopes. Streets run parallel to the river, and the urban area thins into a single road wherever the valley narrows.
