Hills to the west
The Nandi Hills group rises near the town, and the higher ground there breaks up the road network into winding routes quite unlike the straighter roads on the plain.

Te mapa
Chik Ballāpur sits on the high Deccan plateau about an hour north of Bengaluru, in a landscape of granite hills, dry farmland and old irrigation tanks. From above, the town forms an uneven cluster along its main roads, with a denser older centre and newer layouts spreading out toward the highway and the railway. Lakes and tanks show up as irregular shapes across the surrounding countryside.
The town is the headquarters of Chikkaballapur district, and it sits close to Nandi Hills, a granite hill station popular with weekend visitors from Bengaluru. The engineer and statesman Sir M. Visvesvaraya was born in the nearby village of Muddenahalli, and his birthday is marked each year in India as Engineers' Day.
A Chik Ballāpur map poster shows a town between plateau and city: roads heading south toward Bengaluru, tanks set among fields, and a centre that grew over centuries. The rocky high ground to the west gives the edges of the map a different texture from the flatter farmland, which keeps the composition from feeling uniform.
The Nandi Hills group rises near the town, and the higher ground there breaks up the road network into winding routes quite unlike the straighter roads on the plain.
Irrigation tanks dot the area around the town, appearing as scattered rounded shapes that give the flat farmland rhythm and definition.
The main road south toward Bengaluru forms a strong, straight line on the map, with newer development gradually spreading along it.

Koteā ko Chik Ballāpur
Many people in Bengaluru have family ties to Chik Ballāpur, and others know it as the gateway to Nandi Hills on early morning drives. A map of the town is a quiet reminder of those roads and places, fitting for an office or a home entrance.
