Te mapa
Colorado do Oeste lies in the south of Rondônia, close to the border with Bolivia, in a region settled mainly during the agricultural colonisation of the Brazilian Amazon in the late twentieth century. From above, the town appears as a regular grid of streets and blocks, a typical pattern for towns planned during that period, set within a wide landscape of cleared fields and pasture.
Rural roads run out from the town in long straight lines, dividing the surrounding land into large plots. Streams and patches of remaining forest follow the lower ground, adding irregular shapes to the otherwise geometric layout. The town serves as a local centre for the farming communities around it.
A Colorado do Oeste map poster shows a place defined by planning and by the land. The tidy grid of the centre and the long rural roads beyond read strongly in monochrome, giving a clear, graphic picture of a young town on the edge of the Amazon region.
The centre is laid out in straight streets and even blocks, a clean pattern that gives the map an ordered, architectural look.
Straight roads extend from town into farmland, marking out large land plots and giving the map strong directional lines.
Winding streams and strips of woodland follow the lower ground, softening the geometry of the fields and streets.
