Croulebarbe is one of the four administrative quarters of the 13th arrondissement of Paris. It lies on the Left Bank around the Avenue des Gobelins. The quarter takes its name from an old mill on the Bièvre, a small river that once flowed through this area and was later covered over as the city grew.
The Manufacture des Gobelins, the historic tapestry workshop, is in Croulebarbe, and the Square René-Le Gall was built on land by the former riverbed. On the map, straight Haussmann-era avenues cut across the quarter, while the more irregular streets in between still follow older plots and the line of the vanished river.
A Croulebarbe map poster is for someone who knows this particular corner of Paris: its avenues, its quiet squares and the half-hidden history of the Bièvre. It shows a Paris neighbourhood more intimately than a map of the whole city can.
The broad avenue running through the quarter is one of the main straight lines on the map, a clear example of nineteenth-century Parisian urban planning.
The river is now underground, but some streets and the green space of Square René-Le Gall still follow its old course through the quarter.
The large block of the historic tapestry manufactory stands out in the street plan, a reminder of the crafts that once lined the river.

Koteā ko Croulebarbe
Parisians often identify with their quarter rather than the whole city. A map of Croulebarbe marks the streets you actually walk, whether it is your first Paris flat or a long-time home.
Title it Croulebarbe, Paris 13e, add a date in the subtitle, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Six print sizes are included in the $9 download, among them 50×70 cm and A2.
