Delcevo Map Poster & Print
Delčevo is a town in eastern North Macedonia, close to the border with Bulgaria, in the Maleševo region. It lies in the valley of the Bregalnica river, surrounded by hills and mountains. The town was known as Carevo Selo until 1950, when it was renamed in honour of Goce Delčev, the revolutionary leader of the early twentieth century.
On a map, the Bregalnica is the defining feature. The river runs through the town, and the main streets follow its course before spreading into residential blocks on the flatter ground on either side. Bridges connect the two banks. Beyond the edge of town, roads climb into the surrounding hills towards villages and the border crossing.
