Te mapa
Diaoyucheng lies in Hechuan district, Chongqing, near the point where the Jialing, Qu and Fu rivers meet. The landscape here is dramatic: steep hills, deep river bends and terraced slopes. On the map, the rivers dominate, and settlement follows the high ground and the banks.
The name comes from the Diaoyu Fortress, a mountain stronghold of the Southern Song dynasty. In 1259, during a long Mongol siege of the fortress, the Mongol ruler Möngke Khan died nearby. His death interrupted Mongol campaigns across Asia, and the site is now a protected historic area.
A Diaoyucheng map poster shows the fortress hill surrounded by rivers, with roads twisting up its slopes and the town spreading along the water below. It is a map where the terrain tells the story, making it one of the more striking places to hang in black and white.
The Jialing, Qu and Fu rivers join near Hechuan, and their wide, curving courses form the strongest lines on the entire map.
The historic Diaoyu Fortress stands on a high, river-protected hill, shown on the print by winding paths and a clear break in the street pattern.
Houses and roads follow the riverbanks and the lower slopes, creating long, narrow built-up areas shaped by the terrain.

Koteā ko Diaoyucheng
Diaoyucheng appeals to people interested in history and dramatic landscapes, as well as families from Hechuan and Chongqing. The map shows how rivers and hills made the fortress so hard to take.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in Chinese or English, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir works especially well for the river confluence.
