Te mapa
Dongchuan lies in the northeast of Qinghai province, in the high country of the Tibetan Plateau's edge. From above, settlement here follows the landscape closely. Streets and villages gather on flatter valley floors and roads trace the course of rivers and streams, while the surrounding slopes stay largely empty on a street map.
That relationship between terrain and settlement is the main story of the poster. Built-up areas appear as compact clusters and ribbons, and the transport lines bend with the valleys rather than cutting straight across. In black and white the pattern is sparse and elegant, with plenty of negative space.
A Dongchuan map poster suits people who know this part of Qinghai, whether they grew up there, work there or have travelled through the plateau. It is a restrained image of a place where geography sets the layout far more than any planned grid.
Built-up areas sit on the flatter ground along valleys, forming compact clusters that stand out clearly against the open surroundings.
Main roads run alongside watercourses and bend with the terrain. On the print they form long, flowing lines through the composition.
Large areas around the settlement have few mapped features. That emptiness gives the poster a calm, spacious feel suited to minimalist interiors.

Koteā ko Dongchuan
Maps of high, remote places often feel more personal than city plans. A Dongchuan print marks a specific point on the Qinghai plateau for someone who lives there, comes from there or remembers a journey through it.
