Te mapa
Douz lies in southern Tunisia, in the Kebili governorate, and is often described as a gateway to the Sahara. To the south and west, the dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental begin, and the town sits at the boundary between cultivated oasis and open desert. From above, that boundary is the defining feature of the map.
The town's streets cluster near extensive palm groves, which appear as a dense pattern of plots and irrigation lines. A Douz map poster shows this green edge clearly, followed by the sudden emptiness of the desert beyond, broken only by tracks heading toward dunes and more remote settlements.
Douz is known for its International Festival of the Sahara, held in winter, which celebrates the culture of the region's nomadic communities, including camel races and traditional music. The town has long been a meeting point for people crossing the desert, and its map reflects that role: a compact settlement where routes gather before heading into the sand.
Dense palm groves and irrigated plots surround the town, forming a detailed patchwork on the map that marks where water makes cultivation possible.
Beyond the oasis, the Grand Erg Oriental begins, and the map shows the settlement stopping almost abruptly against the open expanse of the Sahara.
Roads and tracks lead out from the town toward the dunes and distant settlements, drawing long lines into the otherwise empty desert landscape.

Koteā ko Douz
Douz is often the starting point for journeys into the Sahara, and many people remember it as the place where the desert began. A map of the oasis and its edge is a calm, precise reminder of that moment.
The title and subtitle can be changed to a trip date, a name or a phrase in Arabic, French or English. Sand is the natural choice here, while Noir makes the oasis stand out against a dark desert.
