Te mapa
Drexel Hill is a community within Upper Darby Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, just west of Philadelphia. On a map it is a dense, mature suburb: blocks of twin houses and detached homes along gently curving streets, shopping strips on the main roads and green corridors along creeks and parks.
Much of Drexel Hill grew in the early twentieth century around trolley service to Philadelphia, and the lines still run through it today, operated by SEPTA toward Media and Sharon Hill. Their routes cut long, smooth paths across the street pattern, while Darby Creek on the western side adds a winding natural edge.
A Drexel Hill map poster shows the careful texture of a streetcar suburb, where houses, parks and transit lines fit closely together. It works well for families who have lived here for generations, for people who bought a first home on one of its slopes and for anyone who grew up just outside the city.
SEPTA trolley lines toward Media and Sharon Hill cross the community, drawing long curving lines that reveal how the suburb grew around transit.
The creek valley along the western side of Drexel Hill forms a green, winding border that breaks up the regular pattern of residential blocks.
Close-set streets of twins and single homes fill most of the map, their gentle curves following the rolling ground west of Philadelphia.
