Te mapa
El Paso lies at the far western tip of Texas, where the Rio Grande passes through a gap between mountain ranges. The Franklin Mountains extend into the middle of the city and split it into west and east sides. Downtown sits at their southern end, beside the river, and the streets spread across the desert basin in broad grids.
The Rio Grande forms the border with Mexico here, and El Paso and Ciudad Juárez make up one of the largest binational urban areas in the world. Several international bridges link the two cities. Fort Bliss, one of the largest army installations in the United States, covers a vast area to the north-east.
An El Paso map poster shows how the mountains and the river shape everything. The streets curve around the Franklins, the border river draws a winding line along the south, and the grid of Juárez continues beyond it. It is a dramatic design for a city defined by its terrain.
The range runs into the city from the north, leaving a large blank shape in the street grid, with Scenic Drive winding along its southern slopes.
The river traces the southern edge of the city and forms the national border, crossed by several international bridges to Ciudad Juárez.
On the flat land east and west of the mountains, El Paso spreads in wide grids of residential streets, interrupted by arroyos and highways.

Koteā ko El Paso
El Paso ties together two countries and a mountain range, and many families live on both sides of the river. A map shows that shared geography in a single frame.
