Te mapa
Elland is a market town in West Yorkshire, in the Calder valley just south of Halifax. The map is organised by the valley floor. The River Calder, the Calder and Hebble Navigation and the railway run almost parallel through the bottom of the valley, and the town's streets climb the slopes on either side in terraces and winding roads.
The old centre sits on the southern slope above the river, with a compact network of streets around the main shopping area and parish church. Elland Bridge crosses the Calder and links the town to the north bank. Former mill sites and wharves line the waterway, and residential streets rise steeply toward the moorland edges.
An Elland map poster shows the classic layout of a Pennine textile town: water and transport routes packed into the valley floor, with housing spreading up the hillsides. The canal, built in the 18th century to carry goods through the valley, is still one of the town's defining lines.
The river and the Calder and Hebble Navigation run next to each other through the valley. On the poster they form a double line that divides the town.
The bridge over the Calder connects the old centre with the north bank. It marks a key crossing point in the valley and a natural focus of the map.
Streets of stone houses climb the valley sides in rows and curves. Their layered pattern gives the print a clear sense of the steep Pennine terrain.

Koteā ko Elland
For anyone from Elland or the Calder valley, the map captures the landscape in a single view: canal, river and hillside terraces. It suits a Yorkshire kitchen just as well as a flat far from home.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with a street name, a house date or a family name. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint highlights the waterways.
