Ezine lies in Çanakkale Province, in the historic region known as the Troad, the country around ancient Troy. The town sits on a plain of fields and olive groves, with low hills on either side. Its streets form a compact centre where the main roads of the area meet, and the Aegean coast lies a short distance to the west.
Across Turkey the name is known for one product, Ezine cheese, a brined white cheese made from sheep, goat and cow milk. The farmland shown around the town on the map is part of that story. Pastures and fields reach right up to the last houses.
