Te mapa
Fairview Park is a street grid with one dramatic edge. Most of the city is quiet residential blocks, laid out in a steady pattern and crossed by a few main roads such as Lorain Road. Along its western side, the ground drops into the Rocky River valley, and that green corridor of curving river and parkland runs the full length of the city on the map.
The valley belongs to the Rocky River Reservation, part of Cleveland Metroparks, with trails, picnic areas and roads along the valley floor. Fairview Park grew mainly after the Second World War as a residential suburb west of Cleveland, and it has kept a small-town sense of neighbourhood.
A Fairview Park map poster shows the contrast between straight suburban streets and the loose, winding line of the river below. The valley gives the design a natural border, and without it the city would look like many others. It is the feature residents mention first.
The river winds through a wooded gorge on the city's western edge. On the map its curves stand out clearly next to the straight residential streets.
A long strip of parkland runs along the valley, with a single road and trail following the river, leaving a calm, open band across the poster.
Rows of residential streets fill the rest of the city in an even pattern that gives the design a quiet, repeated texture.

Koteā ko Fairview Park
For anyone who grew up biking down into the valley or bought a house a few blocks from the river, this map is a familiar outline. It works well in an entryway, where the river's curve is the first thing a visitor notices.
